- Johnny Depp won his defamation case against Amber Heard
- She must pay him over $10 million in damages
- But that money could be a problem for Amber...
For six long weeks, the whole world followed the court case between actors Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. Now the verdict is in. Amber is guilty of defamation over an essay in The Washington Post where she called herself a victim of domestic violence.
After the verdict: Amber Heard can't pay Johnny Depp?
As punishment, the actress is to pay her ex-husband more than $10 million. But now it was confirmed by her lawyer Elaine Bredehoft to NBC: Amber Heard cannot pay this sum.
The Aquaman actress therefore wants to appeal the verdict and has "some excellent grounds" for doing so, her lawyer says. Heard herself is to receive $2 million from Johnny Depp because of statements from his ex-lawyer that damaged her reputation.
So it looks like the Johnny Depp–Amber Heard trial isn't going away just yet. The celebrity world had many reactions to the verdict, and we could hear a whole lot more in the weeks to come.
