Faith Hill was born Audrey Faith Perry on September 21, 1967. She was born and raised in Mississippi, where she expressed her talent for singing at the young age of seven. What really inspired her was a performance by the one and only Elvis Presley, who held a concert at a state fair when she was just turning 9. During her teenage years, Hill performed at churches and local rodeos.

Faith Hill: The Beginnings

At age 19, Hill dropped out of her local community college to move to Nashville. Although she tried out to be one of Reba McEntire's back-up singers, she didn't get the gig. Her struggle to make it big resulted in smaller jobs across the county - from McDonald's to selling t-shirts. It would take years for her to be discovered at a bar by a Warner Bros. Records executive, who then signed her up for a recording contract.
