James Van Der Beek has made an emotional decision: The actor is auctioning off personal memorabilia from his time on 'Dawson's Creek' to help fund his cancer treatment, according to People. The 46-year-old, who was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer last year, has teamed up with Propstore to host a live auction, which will take place December 5-7. All proceeds will help alleviate the financial burden of battling cancer.

Memories for sale

Among the items up for sale is the famous necklace that his character "Dawson" gave to "Joey", played by Katie Holmes, as a prom present. This is estimated to be worth between 26,400 and 52,800 dollars. The outfit "Dawson" wore in the pilot episode is also for sale and could fetch almost 4,000 dollars. Other costumes, props and set pieces are also part of the auction, as People reported.

A difficult year

James Van Der Beek, who made his diagnosis public last November, even had to cancel the 'Dawson's Creek' reunion in September due to his illness. The actor confessed that the past year has been the hardest of his life. "I had to look death in the face and could no longer provide for my family" Van Der Beek told People. But despite the challenges, he remains optimistic and emphasizes that he is still worthy of being loved.
