Emilia Clarke Refused To Star in '50 Shades Of Grey' Because Of Nudity
33-year-old actress Emilia Clarke aka "Daenerys Targaryen" on Game of Thrones, opened up about how she struggled with certain situations while portraying her character in the legendary show.
During an interview on Armchair Expert, she revealed she was new in Hollywood when she got her role in GoT, and that is why she agreed to do extensive nude scenes. Clarke admitted to feeling pressured and floating through the first season, "I’ve had fights on set before where I’m like, ‘No, the sheet stays up,’ and they’re like, ‘You don’t wanna disappoint your Game of Thrones fans,'" she explained.
Emilia Clarke says her Game of Thrones experience was "terrifying"
Clarke revealed that filming nude scenes on the Game of Thrones set was "terrifying" but ended up doing it anyway. "I have that imposter syndrome times a million, so whatever I’m feeling is wrong. I’m going to go cry in the bathroom and I’m going to come back and we’re going to do the scene and it will be completely fine," she explained.
Emilia Clarke said that after her "terrifying" Game of Thrones experience, she has also been pressured to do nude scenes on other projects, however, now she knows it is okay to say no. "Now things are very, very, very different and I’m a lot more savvy with what I’m comfortable with and what I am okay with doing,” she said.
The English actress recently starred in the 2019 films Above Suspicion and Last Christmas, as "Susan" and "Kate," respectively.
