Justin Bieber illness: He has Ramsay Hunt syndrome
On Instagram, Justin Bieber explained: "This virus that attacks the nerve in my ear and my facial nerves and has caused my face to have paralysis." The 28-year-old was absolutely shocked by the diagnosis.
"Can't believe I'm saying this. I've done everything to get better but my sickness is getting worse," he wrote. With a heavy heart, the Canadian singer cancelled the next shows on his "Justice Tour." That's on doctor's orders.
On Instagram, Justin Bieber demonstrated the effects of his facial paralysis, which you can see in the video above. On the right side, he could neither blink nor smile. The side of his face is completely paralyzed.
Understandably, he is physically unable to play shows. Bieber will now step away from performing and focus entirely on his recovery, he said.
Ramsay Hunt syndrome is a "rare" disorder that can have permanent effects in some cases. The news comes just a few months after a health scare for Bieber's wife Hailey Baldwin.
