The FireAid benefit concert in Los Angeles on January 30th was a monumental event, raising over 60 million for wild fire relief efforts. As the event kicked off, an additional 2 million was raised, thanks to a $1 million donation from U2 and a matching contribution from Clippers and Intuit Dome owner Steve Ballmer and his wife Connie. The concert aimed to support the recovery of communities affected by two of the largest fires in the city's history.

The concert featured a star-studded lineup, including performances by Billie Eilish, Pink, Katy Perry, and Dr. Dre. Actor Billy Crystal opened the show at the Kia Forum, sharing his personal experience of losing his home in the Pacific Palisades fire. "You'll be hearing from a number of people who were tragically affected by these fires, and I was one of them," Crystal said. California native Katy Perry waved the state's flag as she performed hits like "Roar," while Dr. Dre expressed his gratitude for the first responders. "It's all about love for me today," he said.
Iconic performances highlight resilience
Throughout the night, performers paid tribute to the resilience of Los Angeles. Stevie Nicks dedicated her performance of "Landslide" to the firefighters who saved her home, while Joni Mitchell made a rare appearance, performing "Both Sides Now" from a golden throne. The remaining members of Nirvana reunited with guest vocalists, and Red Hot Chili Peppers performed their hit "Under The Bridge." The concert concluded with Lady Gaga's powerful rendition of "Shallow," leaving the audience inspired.
