Leighton Meester didn't exactly have the easiest start in life. At the time of her birth on April 9th, 1986 both of her parents were serving time in a federal prison. Leighton learned at an early age that you cannot judge someone based on their past experiences and focused much of her time in her childhood participating in plays at a local theater. 

Leighton would make her acting debut on television in 1999 at only 13-years-old on an episode of Law & Order! In 2003, she would go on to make her film debut in the horror film Hangman's Curse. She then went on to guest star in a number of series in the early 2000s including a lead role on sci-fi series Surface before landing her breakout role in 2007 as "Blair Waldorf" on Gossip Girl!

A natural blonde, Leighton originally auditioned for the role of "Serena van der Woodsen", which was eventually given to Blake Lively. However, producers saw her as a better fit for the role of the overachieving socialite "Blair Waldorf". 

Leighton would dye her hair brown for the role and go on to be the breakout star of the series! Gossip Girl ran for 6 seasons, from 2007-2012, with Leighton Meester starring in all 121 episodes of the series!

Leighton Meester Today

After Gossip Girl, Leighton Meester would go on to make her Broadway debut in 2014 in an adaptation of John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men. In addition to acting, Leighton also has quite the voice and released her first studio album in 2015 titled Heartstrings.

Leighton Meester has been married to actor Adam Brody since 2014 after the pair met in 2010 while filming The Oranges together. The adorable couple now has a daughter named Arlo and just announced they are expecting a second child lin 2021! In the meantime, you can catch Leighton starring as single mother "Angie D'Amato" on ABC's sitcom Single Parents

She just starred in a Netflix film, The Weekend Away and you can see her as "Meredith" in a few episodes of How I Met Your Father
