The news of Hayden Panettiere’s death has shocked fans and colleagues around the world. The actress died at the age of 36 in Greenville, South Carolina. New details have now emerged about the emergency call that preceded her death.

Emergency responders were called to a residence on Sunday afternoon after receiving a report of an unresponsive woman. Panettiere was found unresponsive at the scene, and despite efforts to resuscitate her, she could not be saved. She was pronounced dead at 2:32 p.m., according to reports.

For many years, Panettiere was a familiar face on television and in films, best known for Heroes, Nashville, and the Scream franchise.

Hayden Panettiere Was Found Unresponsive in Greenville

According to TMZ, a friend or acquaintance called 911 at approximately 1:51 p.m. The dispatch call reportedly described an “unresponsive female” and “cardiac arrest.” Authorities have not publicly identified the caller.

Police and emergency medical personnel arrived shortly afterward and attempted to save Panettiere. Reports say CPR and advanced life-support measures were administered, but the efforts were unsuccessful. She was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 2:32 p.m.

The Emergency Team Attempted Advanced Life Support

According to People, advanced life support was administered at the scene. However, specific medical procedures have not been fully detailed by authorities.

The 911 dispatch information also reportedly referenced a possible overdose alongside cardiac arrest. However, this does not establish an official cause of death. Authorities have not yet confirmed that an overdose caused Panettiere’s death, and the medical examiner’s investigation remains ongoing.

Police Say There Are No Signs of Foul Play So Far

The Greenville Police Department is investigating Panettiere’s death in conjunction with the Greenville County Coroner’s Office. According to the preliminary investigation, there are currently no signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances.

Authorities have also confirmed that an acquaintance of Panettiere placed the 911 call. The official cause and manner of death have not yet been released, meaning the investigation is still ongoing.

Actress Leaves Behind a Daughter and a Successful Career

Hayden Panettiere appeared on camera from childhood, beginning with commercials and early television roles. She later became internationally known for Heroes and Nashville, earning two Golden Globe nominations for her performance as Juliette Barnes. Her film credits included Remember the Titans,  Ice Princess, Scream 4, and Scream VI.

Panettiere is survived by her 11-year-old daughter, Kaya, whom she shares with her former fiancé, Wladimir Klitschko. Her death has prompted an outpouring of grief from fans, friends, and former colleagues.

One editorial note: I would definitely change “the police’s initial findings” to “preliminary police findings” or “police say there are currently no signs of foul play.” That distinction is important because the investigation has not yet established the official cause of death.
