Tom Selleck was actually married to another woman, Jacqueline Ray, until 1982. The next year, he travelled to the UK to shoot the film Lassiter. That's where he met Jillie Mack, an English actress and dancer.

The story goes like this. Selleck once explained that the crew of his movie took him to see a local performance of Cats.

Jillie was starring as "Rumpleteazer" in the production, and she caught Tom's eye during the show. The two met backstage afterward.
