Jason Mitchell, aka Straight Outta Compton's Eazy-E, was born on January 5th, 1987. Jason and his siblings were raised by their mother in a number of cities around the United States as their mother worked in the military.

Despite traveling quite a bit in his childhood, New Orleans is where Jason calls home. Unfortunately, the family was one of many that would suffer the loss of their home when Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005. In spite of the ups and downs of his childhood, Jason would later channel his energy into acting.

Before Jason Mitchell starred in Straight Outta Compton, he would get his acting start in small roles like in the films Contraband (2012) and Broken City (2013). Cast as American rapper Eazy-E in 2014 would change Jason's life forever.

Straight Outta Compton won Jason Mitchell praise by critics and would lead to his subsequent casting into roles including:

  • "Bud" in 2016's Keanu
  • "Glenn Mills" in 2017's Kong: Skull Island
  • "Eddie" in 2018's SuperFly
  • and "Brandon Johnson" in drama series The Chi (2018-2019)

Jason Mitchell continues to appear in a number of films today including 2020's biographical comedy, Zola. Unfortunately for Jason with great success has also come a series of unfortunate events.

Following allegations of misconduct, Jason would be kicked off the cast of The Chi in 2019, and 2020 would not fare much better for him. In April of 2020, Jason was arrested for four felony charges.

The now 34-year-old actor is hoping 2021 will begin to look up for him. We wish him the best of luck in the new year and look forward to more to come from Straight Outta Compton's Jason Mitchell!
