Jenifer Lewis, Fresh Prince's "Aunt Helen", continues to make her mark in Hollywood and over the years has come to be referred to as "The Mother of Black Hollywood". Having since starred in series like Black-ish, Lewis is an inspiration for many. Check out what The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star is up to today right here. 

Jenifer Lewis, Fresh Prince's "Aunt Helen" was born January 25, 1957 and would get her acting start on Broadway in 1979 with a small role in a performance of Eubie. From there she would continue to rise to fame, becoming a back-up singer for Bette Midler. 

After making the move from New York to Los Angeles, Lewis began to appear regularly on TV in sitcoms including: 

  • Murphy Brown
  • Dream On
  • and Friends.

Perhaps Lewis' biggest role of the 1990s was playing the part of "Aunt Helen" on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

Jenifer Lewis The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air's "Aunt Helen" is a role the actress would portray from 1991 to 1996. Lewis brought humor and joy into the role and made the character memorable for years after the show ended. 

While acting on The Fresh Prince, Jenifer was also busy starring in films like Sister Act (1992), Poetic Justice (1993), and What's Love Got to Do With It (1993).

Jenifer Lewis continues to be a strong figure in Hollywood today and is often referred to as "The Mother of Black Hollywood", a name taken from the title of her memoir and referencing the motherly roles she often portrays.
