Caitlyn Marie Jenner (formerly Bruce Jenner) was born in 1949 in New York, after playing football for several years, she was convinced by her coach to try the decathlon and participated in the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, where she won the men's decathlon, setting a third successive world record and establishing her popularity.
However, it was in 2007 when she came to prominence after starting to appear in the reality television show Keeping Up With the Kardashians, alongside her family, Kris Jenner -former wife- and their daughters Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner, as well as Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, and Khloé Kardashian, Kris's daughters from her previous relationship with Robert Kardashian.
Caitlyn Jenner is one of the most famous transgender women in the world
2015 was one of the most important years in Caitlyn Jenner's life, after coming out as a trans woman and officially changing her gender as well as her name from Bruce to Caitlyn Jenner; according to her, she had dealt with gender dysphoria (the condition of feeling one's emotional and psychological identity as male or female to be opposite to one's biological sex) since she was young. Also in 2015, Caitlyn starred in the reality television show I Am Cait until 2016, which focused on her gender transition and which earned her the title of the "most famous transgender woman in the world."
Caitlyn Jenner has admitted that the fact she was not able to open up about her gender dysphoria contributed to the deterioration of her 23-year-long marriage with Kris Jenner, which eventually ended in 2015; the good thing is that both are still good friends.
Caitlyn Jenner had a series of cosmetic surgeries and finally completed her sex reassignment surgery in 2017. Due to the fact that she has never been attracted to men but women, and considering the difficulty people have in understanding the differences between gender identity and sexual orientation, she decided to identify as asexual.
What has the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star Caitlyn Jenner been doing lately?
Since she came out as a trans woman, Jenner has been recognized by the LGBTQ community all over the world, earning titles like "Trans Champion," "Woman of the Year," and "the most famous LGBT Athlete." For several years she has supported transgender communities. In 2016, for instance, she collaborated with MAC Cosmetics and released a lipstick, donating 100% of the selling prices to the MAC AIDS Fund Transgender Initiative. Also in 2016, she participated in a Human Rights Campaign video that honoured the victims of the 2016 Orlando gay nightclub shooting.
The 72-year-old retired athlete and television personality has been spotted several times on the red carpet, including the Vanity Fair's Oscars after-party. A couple of years ago she joined a group of celebrities like Robert De Niro, Lady Gaga, and Jeffrey Ross, to participate in Comedy Central's Roast of Alec Baldwin, where the 30 Rock star, as well as all of the participants, were exposed to a series of brutal jokes. During the show, where she was the first transgender person to participate, Caitlyn Jenner not only showed that she was prepared for unpleasant comments about her transition but actually demonstrated that she is also able to laugh at herself!
We look forward to seeing more of Caitlyn in the future!
