According to 'TMZ', Liam Payne died on October 16 after falling from a balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires.

The singer had traveled to Argentina with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy at the end of September. While Kate left the country on October 14, the singer stayed behind at the hotel.

One of the last pictures on Snapchat showed Liam Payne posing happily in front of a mirror with Kate, a throwback to his 31st birthday.

Following the fall from the third floor of a balcony, the investigation into the circumstances of the death continues. Alberto Crescenti, the head of the city's emergency services, told the television station 'Todo Noticias' that the circumstances of the singer's death were being investigated and that an autopsy would also be carried out.

According to local media reports, Liam Payne exhibited "aggressive" behavior in the hotel shortly before his death. He is said to have damaged his laptop in the lobby and was then taken back to his room. An employee is said to have called the police, according to an audio recording from the Ministry of Security in Buenos Aires.

Shortly after the police arrived, they heard a loud bang and found the singer's lifeless body in the hotel courtyard. The director of emergency medicine told the Argentinian newspaper 'Clarin' that his team had "discovered a fracture at the base of the skull".

The One Direction star's body was taken to a local mortuary for further examination. Further tests are to be carried out there to finally clarify the exact circumstances of his death. All we know so far is that "Based on what the team saw, there was apparently a cranial fracture and extremely serious injuries that led to his immediate death," according to 'E! News'.
