  • THIS is what has helped her shed many pounds

But things are different now! Kelly Clarkson has flipped the script on her life! The 41-year old pop sensation turned daytime TV queen, is dishing out the details on her major move from the glitz of Los Angeles to the gritty charm of New York City, and we've got the inside scoop straight from 'People' magazine's cover story!

Kelly looks happy and radiant

"I was very unhappy in L.A. and had been for several years. I needed a fresh start," Kelly confesses, her voice ringing with the promise of change.

The star, who shares her two adorable tots, River Rose and Remington Alexander, with her ex-hubby Brandon Blackstock, knew it was time for a change of scenery once her hit show, 'The Kelly Clarkson Show', got the green light to light up the Big Apple. And she hasn't looked back since.

The move wasn't just for kicks – it was a necessity. "I just can’t stay here anymore for my mental health; for me and my kids," she tells the outlet, laying bare the struggles of her clan. And let's just say, NYC is working its magic! "This is where I should be," exclaimed little Remington, proving that sometimes, the city chooses you.

And Kelly's not just conquering the concrete jungle; she's also slaying the daytime TV game with her show snagging six Daytime Emmys, including outstanding daytime talk series and host. Talk about a winning streak!

Behind the scenes, though, it was a different story. Kelly admits, "I’d just been showing up and smiling and doing what I’m supposed to do." But now, she's all about being "present" and soaking up every joyous moment of season 5 – her first to truly relish.

The weight had to go too

Part of the change to her lifestyle included changing her daily activities, and the city was perfect for that. "Walking in the city is quite the workout," she tells the magazine. "And I'm really into infrared saunas right now. And I just got a cold plunge because everybody wore me down."

But it's not all sweat and chills. Clarkson says her diet has been on point, too.

"I eat a healthy mix," she notes. "I dropped weight because I've been listening to my doctor -- a couple of years I didn't. And 90 percent of the time I'm really good at it because a protein diet is good for me anyway. I'm a Texas girl, so I like meat -- sorry, vegetarians in the world!"

And it's clearly working for her. These days things are looking all the way up. At first, hosting one of the most popular daytime talk shows has not been easy, especially the first few years, Clarkson shared.

"Just to be able to come into season 5 feeling good and knowing my kids feel good— and the dust has settled,” she said. “Season 5 is my first season to actually enjoy every minute of it."

Kelly's life is now "so full in the best of ways," and she's knocking on wood to keep the good times rolling. With everything "hitting on all cylinders," it's clear that Kelly Clarkson has found her rhythm in the rhythm of NYC.
