Matt Lauer has taken a strong statement to heart. So much so, in fact, that he's tattooed it across his right forearm.

"Hatred corrodes the container it's carried in," reads the new tattoo seen on the arm of the disgruntled former NBC host.

US Weekly reported on the photo of Lauer's arm tattoo, which was spotted while he was out driving on Wednesday.

The line about hatred actually comes from the eulogy delivered by Alan Simpson at the funeral of former U.S. President George H. W. Bush.

Bush, Simpson said, "never hated anyone. He knew what his mother and my mother always knew: hatred corrodes the container it's carried in."

The question remains: Does Lauer need the quote on his arm to remind himself of this message? Or is he broadcasting the message to a world that he believes has wronged him?

Matt Lauer is in the news once again

The one-time popular TV host and presenter was fired by NBC in 2017 after allegations of inappropriate sexual behaviour and rape. His dismissal was a pivotal moment in the #MeToo movement.

Lauer has denied the allegations (which reportedly came from at least 10 different women), and has made headlines for doing so as recently as this week.

On Tuesday, in an op-ed with Mediaite, Lauer criticized the validity of Ronan Farrow's investigation and the book Catch and Kill: Lies, Spies, and a Conspiracy to Protect Predators.

Farrow responded: "All I'll say on this is that Matt Lauer is just wrong. Catch and Kill was thoroughly reported and fact-checked, including with Matt Lauer himself."

Brooke Nevils, one of Lauer's accusers, responded to the new op-ed by tweeting: "DARVO: Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender."

Lauer has yet to be prosecuted for the allegations, and it's reportedly "virtually impossible" that he will be, because the main crime occurred in Russia in 2014.
