Maloney wrote in her statement, "I never thought I would have to make an announcement like this. But I feel it's important that I'm open about my life with you. After 12 years on an adventure through life together Tom and I are ending our marriage. This ending is not met with resentment or animosity, no sides to choose. We have deep admiration for one another that will always remain and we cherish our friendship."

She continued, "Although we may be on different paths we will continue to love and support one another's happiness. Thank you for all the kind words and support."

Schwartz also wrote a statement, with a slew of photos of the coupling. Many VPR cast members commented on their support for the duo, including Tom Sandoval, Stassi Schroeder and Lala Kent, who is also going through her own separation

Schwartz said in his statement that he wasn't sure how to "capture 12 years of love" in one Instagram post, but went on to say that he "fully supports" his estranged wife in her decision to move on, noting that the two have had "healthy and productive" conversations about it.

"It would be far sadder if she decided to stay with me whilst not happy," he went on to say. "We had some of the most blissful, romantic, fun times humanly possible over the course of our relationship."

For some, this is a huge shock, but for those close to the couple, it might not be as out of the left-field as we may think.

Rumours circulated earlier this year of the split when Maloney shared a snippet of Kim Kardashian's Vogue issue when she said, "In the last two years, I decided I'm going to make myself happy. And that feels really good. And even if that created changes and caused my divorce, I think it's important to be honest with yourself about what really makes you happy."
