The wedding went off without a hitch, but removing the tiara revealed a painful surprise: a cut so deep it left a swelling the size of an egg on her forehead.
"I had a cut because the pressure was too much," Dion shared. The next day's mirror revealed a sight so alarming it sent her straight to the doctor, resulting in a three-week course of antibiotics for the swelling.
After Dion removed the crystal-embellished headpiece — which she was sewn into — she noticed a cut on her forehead. "The next day, I wake up [and had a bump] the size of an egg on my forehead,” she said. "I looked at my husband and said, ‘It’s too late now, we’re married.’"
"This is a moment that will be with me for the rest of my life," she gushed. "The dress couldn’t have been big enough. I could have had three times the size on my head. I could have had six different dresses that night, because he was and he’s still such a wonderful human being. … I still feel his presence so much."
Despite the mishap, Dion wouldn't change a thing about her special day. Reflecting on her late husband, who passed away in 2016, she expressed how his presence is still felt strongly.
"He was, and still is, such a wonderful human being," Dion said, highlighting the deep love and admiration she holds for Angélil.
