After Johnny Depp Scandal: What Amber Heard Has Been Up To

Amber Heard seems to have moved on after the defamation trial involving her and her former husband Johnny Depp.

After six weeks of hearings, Heard was found guilty on three counts of defamation, and the court awarded Depp $10.35 million in damages. Heard filed a countersuit against one of those charges and received damages of $2 million.

After losing the case, Heard felt like an outcast and retreated from the public eye, feeling like a "pariah," according to a film source.

Followed by a rough court case that got a lot of attention, Heard was ready for a new beginning. "You know, I just want to make movies and be appreciated as an actress. I don’t want to have to be crucified to be appreciated as one," she told 'Deadline' when her 2023 film 'In the Fire' came out.

Amber told 'Deadline', "The best luck you can have as an actor is to be able to balance both," explaining her choice of big and small projects. 'Aquaman', that franchise and the machinery behind it, I’m very honored, honored to be a part of that. And then there are these small passion projects like In the 'Fire', where I’m proud to have gotten to know the filmmaker and the cast, and we got dirty together, to breathe life into this story. There’s something cool about that, and I think success is an actor who is able to have both those things."

In July 2021, 'Aquaman' and the 'Lost Kingdom' producer Peter Safran told 'Deadline' that despite pressure from fans, including a long-running petition, the production team never had plans to remove Heard from the film entirely. "You gotta do what's best for the movie. We felt that if it's [director] James Wan and Jason Momoa, it should be Amber Heard. That's really what it was."

Heard welcomed her baby Oonagh Paige Heard in 2021 via surrogate. While she keeps her family life relatively private, there are some photos of her with her baby.

After living in the desert town of Yucca Valley, California, Heard sold her home for $1.1 million and moved to Europe with her daughter, Oonagh Paige. An insider told 'PEOPLE' that Heard left the U.S. because she felt there was "too much chaos" stateside.

In 2023, Heard grabbed headlines by leaving the Hollywood scene for a quieter life in Madrid, Spain. Speaking to Spanish reporters that summer, Heard expressed her love for Spain, saying, "I love Spain, so much." When asked if she planned to stay, she replied, "Yes, I hope so. Yes, yes, I love living here." Heard is also fluent in Spanish.

However, Heard has remained tight-lipped about the identity of her baby's father. While rumors were doing the rounds that it could be her ex, Elon Musk. Heard has also been romantically linked to James Franco, model Cara Delevingne, and cinematographer Bianca Butti.
