Richard Griffiths Cause Of Death

But, sadly, Griffiths passed away unexpectedly in 2013 at the age of just 65. That year, the actor had gone in for a heart procedure and, according to BBC News, he died after complications following the surgery.

At the time, Daily Mail said that Griffiths' health had been declining for several years, and he'd been hospitalized for a heart bypass operation. His agent broke the sad news that he died afterward on March 28, 2013.

Griffiths had continued to act on stage and in film and TV right up until his sudden passing, too. His final screen role came posthumously in the 2013 fantasy drama About Time with Domhnall Gleeson.

Griffiths had no children but had been married to his wife Heather Gibson since 1980. He would have turned 76 years old in 2023, and his absence is still felt today.
