Romy Schneider (†43) had many romances in her lifetime. The German actress was married twice, but she did have several other relationships that became public. Schneider's first great love was an actor who went on to become an international superstar in his career.

We're talking about the iconic Alain Delon. The French actor met Schneider on the set of the historical film Christine in 1958. The couple got engaged, but in 1963 the relationship came to an end. Delon is said to have had an affair with Nathalie Barthélemy - which prompted his separation from Schneider. She had difficulty coping with the breakup.

But it wasn't long before Schneider was in a new relationship. In 1965 she met the director and actor Harry Meyen (†54). A year later, the couple married and shortly thereafter had a son, David Christopher Meyen, who sadly died at the age of 14.

In 1973, Meyen and Schneider separated. The divorce was finalized two years later. This was followed by a marriage to Schneider's private secretary Daniel Biasini (71), with whom she tied the knot in 1975. In 1977, the couple welcomed daughter Sarah Biasini. But Romy's second marriage didn't last long either. In 1981 her husband filed for divorce.

In addition to Romy Schneider's husbands and fiancés, the actress had other well-known partners. The German actor Bruno Ganz (†77) had an affair with her for about a year, as he told German newspaper Bild am Sonntag. "It must have been the beginning of the seventies: Romy was always on the move a lot, our time was between Hamburg, Berlin and Paris," Ganz said (originally in German).

Actor Horst Buchholz also spoke publicly about an alleged liaison with Schneider, after meeting her on the set of The Girl and the Legend (1957). But the Sissi star's last man was Laurent Pétin (71). She met the film producer in the early 1980s. Pétin was also the one who found Romy dead in their shared apartment on May 29, 1982. According to the autopsy, Schneider died of heart failure, at the age of just 43.
