'Supernatural': Where Is Jared Padelecki Now?

Many 'Supernatural' fans have wondered where actor Jared Padalecki is doing his thing today. Jared Padalecki is giving fans some hope that a reunion with Jensen Ackles might come to fruition in the future. Although there are no concrete plans for the Winchester brothers to reunite, there is willingness to make it happen.

Jared starred in the hit show from 2005 all the way to 2020, and he has kept himself busy ever since. "It’s not that I haven’t seriously considered doing it, my single answer is yes. It’s timing. It’s availability," Padalecki said in an interview with 'Collider' about a 'Supernatural' reunion.

He continued, "Jensen and I feel so strongly about our show that we had for 15 years together that we don’t wanna just do it, just to do it. We don’t wanna go, ‘Hey, I have two weeks off in June. Let’s go ahead and shoot 10 pages a day, just so we can have some more content.''

Padalecki said that "If and when Supernatural comes back, it’s going to be a labor of love, and we’re gonna put every hour in to make sure that it’s as true to the canon and to the fandom and to the story and to the characters as possible." In the meantime, Jared has been occupied with 'Walker.'

The show revolves around a widowed father returns to Austin after one year, attempting to reconnect with his children, navigate clashes with his family, and find common ground with his new partner, while growing increasingly suspicious of his wife's death. Jared is the lead, playing "Cordell Walker."

He also starred in 'Walker: Independence' in 2023. But his personal life has also kept him quite busy in recent times. This June, 'The Gilmore Girls' alum shared that he checked into a clinic in 2015 after struggling with suicidal ideation. "I had a really low moment," Jared recalled during the June 25 episode of 'Tommy DiDario's I've Never Said This Before podcast', per 'People' magazine. "I was letting my thoughts take over and going to places of dramatic suicidal ideation."

After opening up to wife Genevieve Padelecki—whom he married in 2010—about how he was feeling, the 41-year-old said she instructed him to "get home" so he could receive the professional help he needed. "I got home, went to a clinic for a couple weeks and looked into it and haven't been suicidal since," Jared continued, "not for a moment."

"I had spent 15 years in this industry," the actor explained. "You go to an audition or on a red carpet and they don't want, ‘Jared, how are you doing today?' ‘Oh today was rough, I didn't sleep.' They want, ‘Oh it's great! Excited to be here!' So, I had done that for so long, trying to focus on what's best for the person who's talking to me as opposed to just being honest."

Now that he's in a much better place, Jared—who shares kids Thomas Colton, 12, Austin Shepherd, 10 and Odette Elliott, 7, with Genevieve—is "proudly open" about his experience. As he put it, "I don't wear it as a scarlet letter."
"Please be open, please share, please find somebody whether it's a friend or professional," he said. "Speak the truth," he tells fans.

With 'Walker' wrapped up in 2024, fans are eager to see what's next for Jared. Will we see him come back to another 'Supernatural' adventure?
