Taylor Swift is extending the run of her 2025 album with an expanded edition set for release this Friday. The singer announced “The Encore,” a new version of The Life of a Showgirl, adding four tracks to the original project. According to Page Six, the update follows the album’s record-setting first week and comes nearly a year after its debut. The rollout also builds on this week’s news around “Patient Zero,” a new single Swift had already started teasing across her social media channels.
Taylor Swift Adds Four Tracks to the Album
Swift shared the news in an Instagram post that framed the release as a thank-you to fans. “About a year ago, you guys did a truly unfathomable thing. Something that completely blew my mind… You gave The Life of a Showgirl the biggest first week for an album in history,” Swift wrote. She said the expanded edition includes four new songs: “Patient Zero,” “Cleveland!,” “Pink Clouding,” and “Babylon.” Spotify listings for the release also point to those titles, giving fans an early look at the next phase of the album campaign.
Sweden Sessions With Max Martin and Shellback
The new material began taking shape after the original album arrived last October. Swift said she traveled to Sweden with longtime collaborators Max Martin and Shellback, where the team wrote additional songs for the project. “I hope you love them, because they were born out of pure gratitude for your exuberance for and celebration of the album we made,” she said according to Page Six. That detail places the encore edition less as a repackaging move and more as a continuation of the same creative period behind the original release.
Patient Zero Leads the New Release Push
Before confirming the expanded album, Swift had already put the spotlight on “Patient Zero” as its first major preview. “I’ve been impatiently waiting to tell you that my brand new single ‘Patient Zero’ will be out on September 25 (!!!!!!!!!!!!),” Swift wrote via Instagram Tuesday. The track is also being sold in three CD versions through her website, including acoustic and piano editions. Each physical version carries a different photo of Swift in black styling, with sparkly orange, blue, and black trim separating the variants.
Travis Kelce Era Still Shapes the Album Story
The event arrives during a busy personal and professional chapter for Swift. Her 12th studio album first debuted in October 2025 after she announced it during an appearance on Travis Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast. Several songs on the record were tied to the NFL star, including “Wi$h Li$t” and “Wood.” Since marrying Kelce on July 3, 2026, Swift has also been a regular presence at Kansas City Chiefs games. Most recently, she appeared to celebrate his latest touchdown by pointing to her ring and saying, “That’s my husband!”
