Morrison, 39, is best known for his songs "You Give Me Something" and "Broken Strings". James is obviously reeling. The 'Broken Strings' singer, had been in a relationship with her since he was 17. The two have two daughters.
The Morrison family will need time to process
In a statement, Gloucestershire Constabulary said: "Police were called to Whitminster in Gloucester at around 9.10am on Friday 5 January following concerns for the welfare of a resident. "Officers attended and the body of a woman in her 40s was found within an address. The death is being treated as non-suspicious at this time. The coroners and woman's next of kin have been informed."
The couple were together for around two decades, and met after she moved into Morrison's mother's home as a lodger. He previously said meeting Gill Catchpole was a "fairytale" and had tried to impress her by "serenading" her with Stevie Wonder songs...
