• Sam Asghari on conservatorship
  • He speaks openly about his marriage to Britney Spears

Sam Asghari and Britney Spears were a couple for seven years. In the 'Sibling Revelry' podcast, he talks about his relationship and marriage to Britney and reveals what shocked him the most.

Sam Asghari on Britney Spears' conservatorship

Sam Asghari was shocked when he found out about Britney Spears' conservatorship after the two met. The actor and model spoke on the podcast about how he was initially unaware of the American legal situation. "One day I start learning about what the conservatorship is," said Asghari.

"And that’s when I was like, ‘Wait a minute. I thought I’m in America. What do you mean someone over the age of 18 needs permission from their parents?’"

For Sam, this was the "weirdest thing to deal with". Britney was placed under the guardianship of her father, Jamie Spears, in 2008, which was terminated in November 2021.

Relationship with Britney Spears

When Britney Spears and Sam Asghari met on the set of her "Slumber Party" music video in 2016, he had to tread carefully on the topic of conservatorship, as he was only her boyfriend at the time. Asghari shared that his main goal was to show Spears that he was there for her.

"I think the best thing to do is to provide support in that moment and that’s what I did, I provided as much as I could," he explained.

Asghari noted that his "experience" from "another country" helped him stay by Spears' side while she was going through difficult times. After the guardianship ended, Asghari and Spears married in June 2022, but separated in August 2023 after a year of marriage.

Despite the end of their relationship, Asghari is grateful for the memories they shared and described their marriage as a "crash course in Hollywood". "There’s seven years worth of relationship that comes from the music video and a marriage and a lot of experiences … and a lot of a lot of experiences," he said. "I’m always gonna be grateful and happy that it ever even happened."
