Oprah actually grew up on a farm in Mississippi and was raised partially by her grandmother after her parents split up. She went back and forth between her parents and was repeatedly faced with sexual abused while staying with her mother. She eventually stayed with her father, under whose care she did well in school, went to college and got her first job at CBS at the age of 19. The rest is history...
