On October 5, 1962, Dr. No premiered. It was the start of one of the most successful film franchises in history. The first "James Bond" was played by the handsome Sir Sean Connery.
For the 32-year-old, it was the springboard of his career. He slipped into the role of the secret agent a total of six times and retired from it in 1971 with Diamonds are Forever.
