Freddie Highmore

Freddie Highmore was born in 1992 in Camden Town, London. His mother, Sue Latimer was a talent agent and worked alongside the likes of Daniel Radcliffe and Imelda Staunton. Being so familiar with film and acting, Highmore was naturally drawn to the big screen.

In 2004, Highmore landed a lead role in the critically acclaimed Finding Neverland, working alongside A-lister celebs like Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet. Working on such a film opened many doors for the young actor allowed him to receive plenty of awards, and launched his career into superstardom.

In 2005, Highmore landed another box office smash hit, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, once again working with Depp. The Tim Burton-directed film made it big, and Highmore quickly became a household name. Highmore hadn’t seen the original film when he played "Charlie" and deliberately chose not to so that his version of the character would be unique and authentic. For his role, Highmore was once again awarded a Critics Choice Award for the young actor's category.

There was no denying that this young actor had the chops to back up his ambition, and took on a challenging fear of voice acting in the family film, Arthur and the Invisibles. He voiced the same character on the video game release, as well as lending his voice again for the family adventure film The Golden Compass.

In 2008, Highmore took on another children’s fantasy role in the film adaptation of The Spiderwick Chronicles, based on a young adult novel of the same name. That same year, Highmore worked on the children’s animated film alongside Nicholas Cage, Astro Boy, which was very well received.

During his time filming on the show from 2013 to 2017, Highmore also took a shot at directing and writing a few episodes. In season 4 Highmore wrote the episode "Unfaithful", as well as season 5 episode "Inseperable" and directing "The Body".

When Bates Motel came to an end, Highmore was launched into another hit TV series and threw himself into his work as "Dr. Shaun Murphy" on ABC’s The Good Doctor. Highmore not only acted but served as a producer and director on the series as well, winning him a Golden Globe nomination in 2017.

Freddie Highmore has been in major motion pictures since he was just a small kid. Growing up in London, Highmore had the opportunity to make a name for himself early on, and for the last 20 years has continued to surprise us with his acting chops!

Besides being on ABC for his work in The Good Doctor, Highmore was also highly successful as a child actor as well and worked on plenty of movies with A-list celebs. With co-stars like Johnny Depp in movies like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Highmore was quick to rise to the top!
