On a trip from Manchester to London, she suddenly came up with the character of "Harry Potter". According to Joanne, this idea came out of nowhere and with it came the story and characters. In 1995, Rowling finished her manuscript for Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone on an old typewriter, and the rest is history!
