Sinéad O'Connor (†56) died unexpectedly at the age of 56, just one and a half years after her son Shane (†17). After his death in January 2022, the singer withdrew from public life. Her last post, published on Twitter, was addressed to her son.

On July 17, 2023, the "Nothing Compares 2 U" singer wrote on Twitter: "Been living as undead night creature since. He was the love of my life, the lamp of my soul."

"We were one soul in two halves. He was the only person who ever loved me unconditionally. I am lost in the bardo without him," said Sinéad O'Connor, who took the name Shuhada' Sadaqat in 2018 after she converted to the Islamic faith. 

She shared a very private photo of herself and Shane. The 17-year-old had taken his own life in January last year.  

She also checked in on Facebook for the last time on July 11. She announced there: "Hi All, recently moved back to London after 23 years absence. Very happy to be home."

She also announced that she was busy with an album. "Soon finishing my album. Release early next year : ) Hopefully Touring Australia and New Zealand toward end 2024. Europe, USA and other territories beginning early 2025 : ) #TheBitchIsBack" Sinéad O'Connor shared. 

On Instagram, the musician was active only until 2016. She shared her last post on June 7. It is a black and white portrait of her, under which by now thousands of fans from all over the world mourn the death of the singer.
