Pop singer Britney Spears put her family conflict back in the spotlight with a sharply worded Instagram post aimed at sister Jamie Lynn Spears and ex-husband Kevin Federline. Alongside an image of Dakota Fanning raising her middle finger in the 2003 film “Uptown Girls,” Spears accused both of mistreating her during difficult moments in recent years. She also ended the message with a stark line about wanting distance from the people closest to her, turning a personal complaint into a public statement about betrayal and isolation.
Britney Spears Accuses Jamie Lynn Over Niece Visit
Spears said one of her deepest frustrations involved visits to Louisiana during the pandemic. “Jamie Lynn never let me hold [my niece] Ivy [sic] one time when I would visit in Louisiana during covid in two week trips,” she wrote, according to Page Six. The claim adds another layer to the sisters’ fractured relationship, which has been strained for years. Their conflict has centered on money, loyalty and the conservatorship era, with Spears repeatedly arguing that relatives who could have helped instead stayed silent while she struggled.
Kevin Federline Named in Bathroom Claim
Spears also took aim at Federline, her former husband and the father of sons Sean Preston, 21, and Jayden James, 20. “Kevin wouldn’t let me use the bathroom when I would pick my children up in their house !!!” she wrote. She followed that with a broader accusation about how she was treated by people around her, saying they made her “feel like a slave” while she worked for her father. The post ended with another cutting line: “I will find a new family!!!” No public response from Federline or Jamie Lynn had appeared at the time of publication.
Kevin Federline’s Finances Return to Focus
The timing drew added attention because Federline has recently faced financial issues. As reported by Page Six, he allegedly owes at least $117,704 to City National Bank through a credit card, a line of credit and an overdraft line. The agreement was reportedly signed in late November 2024, around the same period Spears made her final child support payment. During the years their sons lived with him in Hawaii, Spears paid $40,000 a month. That figure later dropped to $20,000 after Sean Preston turned 18, continuing until Jayden James finished high school.
Jamie Lynn Spears Feud Has Deep Roots
The latest post fits into a much longer dispute between Spears and Jamie Lynn. The sisters have been estranged through years of arguments tied to the conservatorship, family finances and public comments. Spears has said she felt betrayed by relatives who did not help her challenge the legal arrangement, which ended in November 2021. Tensions worsened in 2022 when Jamie Lynn promoted her memoir and described Britney’s behavior as “erratic” and “paranoid” in interviews. Spears later fired back online, called her sister a “selfish little brat,” and sent a cease-and-desist through her legal team.
