As a three-month-old baby, David Faustino appeared on camera for the first time in 1974, on a television show hosted by Lily Tomlin. The son of a costume designer and a homemaker grew up in Los Angeles, right in the heart of show business.

Between “Highway to Heaven,” “Family Ties,” and “The Love Boat,” the young Faustino made numerous guest appearances in the first half of the 1980s. He also appeared in the hospital drama “Chefarzt Dr. Westphall” and established a reputation as a dependable up-and-coming actor. His big breakthrough was still ahead of him at that point.

In the Disney productions “Mister Boogedy” and “Bride of Boogedy,” Faustino played the older of two sons in a haunted house in the mid-1980s. These roles earned him his first recognition as a child actor. A year later, a very different family would shape his life.

In 1987, at just 13 years old, Faustino made his big breakthrough as Bud Bundy in the sitcom “Married… with Children.” The role of the cheeky younger Bundy son would shape him for a decade and make him a fixture on U.S. television.

Alongside the show’s success, Faustino released the rap album “Balistyx” in 1992, featuring the single “I Told Ya.” Just a year earlier, he had co-founded the hip-hop club of the same name in Los Angeles—one of the first of its kind on the Sunset Strip. His dual role as a TV star and musician revealed a young man who refused to be defined by a single identity.

On June 9, 1997, the final episode of “Married… with Children” aired, marking the end of David Faustino’s ten-year run as Bud Bundy, spanning 259 episodes. Leaving this iconic role marked a turning point, after which Faustino had to reorient his career. Physically, he had transformed from a teenager into an adult actor, but the transition to new roles proved difficult.

In 2001, Faustino played the character Buzz Frawley in the independent film “Killer Bud,” a deliberate play on his old TV series persona. Three years later, he married pop musician Andrea Elmer at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas. The marriage didn’t last long; in 2007, he officially filed for divorce.

In May 2007, Faustino was arrested in Florida for marijuana possession; another charge against him was dropped after he completed a stint in rehab. Shortly thereafter, he developed the web series “Star-ving” for the online streaming service Crackle, in which he played an exaggerated version of himself.

In 2011, Faustino voiced the character Helia in Nickelodeon’s reboot of “Winx Club,” followed a year later by the role of the firebender Mako in “The Legend of Korra.” The move to the dubbing studio revealed an actor who was building a second career away from the camera. He also provided the voice of the villain Dagur the Mad in “DreamWorks Dragons.”

In 2023, Faustino provided the voice of Normal Nate in the animated film “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem,” a testament to his enduring presence in the industry. Additional productions featuring him are also in the works for 2026. With his more mature appearance, the now 52-year-old bears little resemblance to the pubescent Bud Bundy from the ’90s. Nearly 30 years after the series finale, the former child star has undergone a visible transformation, both physically and professionally.

David Faustino became a 1990s icon as Bud Bundy in the hit sitcom Married... with Children. But 29 years after the series finale, the actor looks remarkably different from the cheeky teenager who made him a household name.

From Bud Bundy to a New Chapter

Today, in 2026, Faustino is a mature actor who has undergone a striking physical transformation while carving out a career far removed from his former cult-favorite role. His journey shows just how much can change in nearly three decades, both on and off screen
