Born May 2, 1946, Lesley Sue Goldstein, or better known today by her stage name Lesley Gore, would rise to fame at the young age of 16! Little did she know that collaborating with record producer Quincy Jones in 1963 on her version of hit song "It's My Party" would lead to worldwide success!
After "It's My Party" was released, it quickly rose to the number one spot, and her very first single would sell over one million copies, becoming a gold record!
Lesley Gore's Singing and Acting Career
More hits would follow "It's My Party", including catchy tunes like "Judy's Turn to Cry", "She's a Fool", and "You Don't Own Me". During this time not only was Lesley producing hit songs, but she was also finishing high school and college!
If she wasn't busy enough, Lesley Gore would also debut in Hollywood with the 1964 documentary The T.A.M.I Show and continue to appear as herself in a variety of documentary films over the years. She has also appeared on television shows including 1967's Batman and daytime soap opera All My Children.

Lesley Gore: Her Later Years
By the 1980s, Lesley Gore was a force to be reckoned with in the music industry, and she has been named one of the top 150 most influential woman singers by NPR. After coming out publicly with her longtime girlfriend, luxury jewelry designer Lois Sasson, Lesley Gore became a spokeswoman for the LGBT community on her show In the Life.
Prior to her death from lung cancer in 2015, Gore had been working on a memoir and Broadway show about her life. While the world lost this iconic singer way too early, her legacy will live on forever!
