"Aloha. Aloha, suckers" was just one of the many catch lines Jack Lord's character "Steve McGarrett" used. In the series, "McGarrett" was a former U.S. naval officer who was appointed by the governor of Hawaii, and only took his orders. 

After the success and ending of the series, Lord remained quite low-key in the entertainment industry, and was diagnosed with Alzheimer's soon after. He died on January 21, 1998 at his home in Honolulu due to congestive heart failure. He was 77.

James MacArthur played "Danny "Danno" Williams" in 'Hawaii Five-0'

The sidekick of the series - "Danny "Danno" Williams", played by James MacArthur who served as the second-in-command in Hawaii Five-0. He ended up leaving the show by the 12th season, as he grew bored with the storylines, finding the scenarios too predictable. 

Up until his death on October 28, 2010, had continued acting, especially on stage. His final film role was in Storm Chasers: Revenge of the Twister (1998).

Gilbert Kauhi played "Kono Kalakaua" in Hawaii Five-0

Gilbert Kauhi

Gilbert Francis Lani Damian Kauhi, otherwise known as Zulu, portrayed detective "Kono Kalakaua" on the series. Zulu was born and raised on the "Big Island" of Hawaii, and got his start in the entertainment business through comedy. He was also a well-known surfer of Waikiki! He ended up leaving Hawaii Five-0 by the fourth season, stating he was tired of playing the "dumb Hawaiian" role. 

Gilbert passed away on May 3, 2004 because of diabetes. His ashes were scattered off the coast of Waikiki per his request.

Richard Denning played "Paul Jemeson" in 'Hawaii Five-0'

Richard Denning

The handsome Richard Denning played "Governor Paul Jameson" in the series, a crucial role for the entire HPD team. He was also known for starring in various science fiction films, including Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954), Day the World Ended (1955), and The Black Scorpion (1957). 

At the age of 84, Denning passed away on October 11, 1998 from a heart attack, and buried with his wife, Evelyn Ankers in Makawao, Hawaii.

Peggy Ryan played "Jenny Sherman" in 'Hawaii Five-0'

Peggy Ryan

You may remember Peggy Ryan as the secretary "Jenny Sherman" from seasons 2 to 9! She had replaced the original secretary of the show, "May" (Maggi Parker), but then Peggy was eventually replaced by "Luana" (Laura Sode-Matteson). 

Peggy excelled at dancing, and even trained Las Vegas showgirls in tap dancing two days before her death on October 30, 2004.

Danny Kamekona played "Nick Kellog" in the series 'Hawaii Five-0'

Danny Kamekona

Danny Kamekona played Sergeant "Nick Kellog" in the series! He started his acting career on the show, from season 5 up until the end of season 7. You may also recognize him from the original Magnum P.I., 21 Jump Street and Walker, Texas Ranger. He also famously played "Sato Toguchi" in The Karate Kid Part II (1986). 

Kamekona passed away at his apartment in Los Angeles on May 12, 1996.

Kam Fong portrayed "Chin Ho Kelly" in 'Hawaii Five-0'

Kam Fong portrayed detective "Chin Ho Kelly" in Hawaii Five-0. Fong came to the set with a lot of knowledge in the police field, as he was an 18-year veteran of the Honolulu Police Department before he started his acting career! 

Fong died on October 18, 2002 due to lung cancer, but his son, Dennis Chun, continued the Hawaii Five-0 legacy - he starred in the Hawaii reboot as "Sgt. Duke Lukela" and became cast as a series regular by its 8th season.

Al Harrington starred as a detective in the series 'Hawaii Five-0'

Al Harrington

Detective "Ben Kokua" was played by Al Harrington, who had replaced Zulu's "Kono Kalakaua" character. Harrington returned for the reboot of Hawaii Five-0 as "Mamo Kahike", a bus driver and owner of a surf shop! He's one of the few cast members that are still alive today, along with William Smith and Sharon Farrell.

Although she only appeared in the show's final season, Sharon Farrell was the only female detective during Hawaii Five-0's twelve-year run. In the series, she played the role of detective "Lori Wilson". Her other notable TV appearances include Gunsmoke, I Dream of Jeannie and JAG. She also starred in the soap, The Young and the Restless for five years!
