She then retired from Hollywood and lived a new life away from the glamor in a small town in Texas, where she built a new life for herself, as Shelley Duvall reported in an interview with 'People' in 2023.
Among other things, she looked after her brother, who had spinal cord cancer. "It's the longest sabbatical I ever took," she revealed, "but it was for really important reasons—to get in touch with my family again."
For Shelley Duvall, however, it was time to act again. She played a role again in the indie horror film 'The Forest Hills', which was released in the USA in 2023. Shelley herself said in an interview about her return: "Acting again—it's so much fun. It enriches your life."
