• Prince William and Duchess Kate visited the Irish Guards
  • The occasion was Saint Patrick's Day
  • Kate made her first appearance as a Colonel

What exactly did the royal couple do over there? They visited the 1st Irish Guards Battalion in Aldershot for the annual Saint Patrick's Day Parade and gave moving speeches. This year was something very special for Duchess Kate: she took part in the parade for the first time as a colonel of the regiment.

Kate will be fantastic at her new role!

Wearing a turquoise coat and matching hat, she presented traditional shamrocks to the officers and guardsmen, who in turn distributed them to the officers and the regiment's Irish Wolfhound mascot.

Also interesting:

The highlight of the parade was the royal salute and a parade for Kate as the new colonel. Kate is following big footsteps, because her husband William held this office before her.
