Today is International Day of the Girl and Duchess Meghan shared a lovely throwback video on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex' Instagram account!

The clip includes a couple of pictures of Meghan as a child, some images of her most recent trip to Africa with Prince Harry and baby Archie, and pictures of girls and women from all over the world. It shows the beautiful Duchess speaking passionately about women's and girls rights: "Every girl has potential, she has promise, she has the right to learn, the right to be heard, the right to play and to discover. The right to be exactly who she is."

Duchess Meghan encourages girls to know their value and make a difference

The clip was released with the intention of celebrating and encouraging girls to know their value and support them in taking action to become the women they want to be, or as Meghan said in her famous 2015 speech at the United Nations: "It is said that girls with dreams become women with vision."

The Duchess of Sussex also promotes the idea of making a difference by letting other people know if something is upsetting:"If you see something that you don't like or are offended by on television or any other place, write letters and send them to the right people and you can really make a difference, not only for yourself but for other people," which is exactly what she did when she was younger. At the age of 11 Meghan campaigned against a sexist advertisement and the results were quite successful: it was changed.

Duchess Meghan has publicly supported women's and girls rights for many years: "To each one of you. Keep asking questions, keep pushing forward, keep shining brightly. Know your worth and know that we are behind you, every step of the way," Meghan says on the adorable clip for International Day of the Girl.
