Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan made their first joint public appearance in Nottingham since returning to the United Kingdom. The couple kicked off a busy day of charitable visits with a warm welcome from well-wishers.
Upon arrival, Harry and Meghan greeted members of the public, posed for photos, and shared smiles with the crowd.
Nottingham holds special significance for the Sussexes. In 2017, they made their first official appearance together in the city following their engagement announcement. Their previous joint public appearance in the UK was at Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in 2022.
Harry and Meghan Return to Nottingham for Three Special Visits
The couple's itinerary included three organizations dedicated to supporting local communities. Their first stop was the Community Recording Studio, established in 1991, which offers young people opportunities in music, sports, mentoring, and personal development.
Harry and Meghan also visited Himmah Hub, an organization focused on tackling food poverty. The visit brought Meghan back into contact with women involved in Together: Our Community Cookbook, a project she supported in 2018. Their schedule also included Epic Partners, a nonprofit that provides educational opportunities, sports activities, and mentoring for children, teenagers, and families.
The appearances marked another milestone following the Sussexes' reported move from California to England in August 2026. The couple returned with their children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, after spending several years in Montecito.
While Harry had already attended engagements in the UK following the move, Meghan had largely remained out of the public spotlight.
A Royal-Style Visit, but Not an Official Royal Engagement
Despite the familiar scenes of cheering crowds and charitable visits, Harry and Meghan's appearance came with an important distinction.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not representing the Crown. A recent communication authorized by King Charles reportedly reiterated that the couple remain private citizens rather than working members of the royal family.
Harry and Meghan stepped back from their senior royal duties in 2020, and their relationship with the monarchy has remained complicated ever since. Their latest appearance in Nottingham therefore represents a new chapter as they rebuild their public presence in Britain, this time outside the framework of official royal duties.
