Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan made their first joint public appearance in Nottingham since returning to the United Kingdom. The couple received a warm welcome as they greeted cheering crowds, accepted flowers, and posed for selfies with well-wishers.

The scenes brought back memories of their first official visit to the city as an engaged couple in 2017. This time, however, it wasn't just the enthusiastic reception that attracted attention. The Sussexes' affectionate gestures also caught the eye of body language expert Judi James, who noticed something unexpected.

Body Language Expert Spots Signs of Tension in Prince Harry

According to Judi James, Harry appeared relaxed at times but also displayed gestures she interpreted as signs of underlying tension.

"At one point he placed an arm around her shoulders in a 'protective wing' gesture," James told the Daily Mail.

The expert paid particular attention to the way Harry rested his hand on Meghan's shoulder, suggesting that his firm grip could indicate caution or a desire to protect his wife.

"The non-verbal 'tell' here of inner tension and caution came from his fingers, which dug tightly into Meghan's shoulder at neck level, suggesting he felt keen to clutch her and keep her even closer," she explained.

Meghan responded by wrapping an arm around Harry's waist, creating what James described as a "double-cling." The body language expert compared their closeness to two people "clinging together as survivors."

While James believed the couple appeared eager to project a sense of happiness about their return, she also interpreted some of Harry's gestures as signs of protectiveness and possible tension.

Meghan Receives Flowers and Warm Wishes From Fans

Meanwhile, Meghan appeared cheerful and approachable as she interacted with people gathered to welcome the couple.

The duchess accepted bouquets of yellow and white flowers, along with balloons, including one shaped like a unicorn. She also stopped to take selfies and reportedly told well-wishers how lovely it was to be back.

Harry was equally engaged with the crowd, chatting with several people and even complimenting a woman wearing a pink jacket on her appearance.

Around 100 well-wishers reportedly gathered to catch a glimpse of the Sussexes during their Nottingham visit.
