Prince Harry attended his first official engagement on Thursday since returning to the United Kingdom. In London, he attended the Invictus Spirit Awards at the Royal Naval College, where he appeared in a tuxedo adorned with military decorations.
There, he greeted photographers and posed with members of the Irish Guards. “It’s good to be back on British soil,” Harry said, according to ABC. The appearance took place on the same day that King Charles III and Prince William were also carrying out their own engagements.
Harry has been living in the United Kingdom again with Meghan and their children, Archie and Lilibet, since last month.
Harry’s Next Stops Will Be London and New York
Because Harry is still not a working royal despite his return, he is currently putting together his own schedule outside the Royal Family. Following the evening in London, he plans to speak next week at the WellChild Awards, an event for seriously ill children that he and Meghan have attended several times.
Next, he is scheduled to attend the Clinton Global Initiative annual meeting in New York, which takes place on September 22 and 23. The family had been living in California for the past six years, after Harry and Meghan stepped down from their former senior roles within the Royal Family in 2020.
William and Kate Pick Up Trash on the Beach on Bute
While Harry was attending the elegant event in London, William and Kate were out on a mission in Scotland. On the Isle of Bute, they helped Beachwatch Bute with a cleanup effort in Ettrick Bay. Using litter pickers and reusable bags, they collected packaging, ropes, and tiny pieces of plastic from the sand.
William also spoke about the extent of the problem: “It's frightening how much stuff gets washed up on beaches, because if it's like this here, it's doubly bad out there,” he said, according to Hello!. Later, after a brief lesson, he even drove a tractor along the beach.
Kate Declines to Wear Gloves
During the visit, the Prince and Princess of Wales also met with volunteers and local residents. William joked about a message in a bottle that had been found shortly before and praised beach ranger Sandra Macmillan for her dedication. Despite the rain, he was in good spirits and said he particularly enjoyed the inclement weather.
Kate also seemed to enjoy the outdoor cleanup. According to the volunteers, she declined the gloves they offered and simply picked up the trash with her hands. Beachwatch Bute has been caring for large sections of the coast for decades and also provides wheelchair-accessible beach wheelchairs.
