Prince William and Princess Kate have long been regarded as the most popular members of the British Royal Family. Now, a new YouGov poll reveals a subtle shift at the top, with William narrowly edging ahead of his wife.
The Prince of Wales earned a 76% approval rating, while Princess Kate followed closely with 74%. Although the two remain far more popular than any other royal, the small gap has attracted attention, as they have typically been almost tied in previous surveys. The latest results are therefore being seen as a notable snapshot of current public opinion in the United Kingdom.
Prince William Takes the Top Spot
According to the Express, the survey was conducted on July 21 and 22 and published on July 30. Seventy-six percent of respondents expressed a favorable opinion of Prince William, while 16% viewed him negatively and 8% remained undecided.
Princess Kate followed with a 74% approval rating and actually received fewer negative responses than her husband, with only 13% expressing an unfavorable opinion. Even so, William's slight lead marks a rare change in the rankings.
Princess Anne and King Charles Follow
Princess Anne secured third place with an impressive 70% approval rating, while King Charles ranked fourth with 62%.
According to The Sun, 68% of Britons now believe the King is doing a good job—his highest approval rating since his coronation. Commentators have linked the increase to his recent visit to the United States, as well as his openness about financial matters, both of which appear to have strengthened his public image.
Edward, Sophie, and Camilla Rank in the Middle
Prince Edward received 53% approval, followed by Duchess Sophie at 51%. Queen Camilla, however, remains one of the most divisive members of the Royal Family. While 43% of respondents viewed her positively, 44% expressed a negative opinion.
Overall, the results show a clear divide within the monarchy: William and Kate continue to dominate the rankings, followed by a well-regarded Princess Anne and an improving King Charles.
Harry, Meghan, and Andrew Trail Behind
Further down the list, Prince Harry received a 33% approval rating—an improvement of six points compared with May 2025—while Meghan Markle stood at 22%.
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie earned approval ratings of 30% and 29%, respectively. At the bottom of the rankings remained Prince Andrew, with just 6% approval, while 92% of respondents viewed him negatively.
The latest YouGov poll reinforces one key takeaway: Prince William and Princess Kate remain the Royal Family's most popular figures—even if William has claimed the top spot this time.
