Meghan Markle is expected to travel to the U.K. this week with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, marking the children’s first trip to Britain since 2022. The planned return follows several days of uncertainty around the Sussex family’s travel arrangements after Prince Harry arrived in England alone earlier this week. According to People Magazine, Meghan and the children are not expected to take part in public appearances. Even so, the trip is significant for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as questions around security, family contact and future visits have continued to shadow their time in Britain.

Prince Harry Arrived in England Without His Family

Prince Harry traveled solo on July 6 after earlier plans for Meghan, Archie and Lilibet to join him were put on hold. Security concerns were said to be the key issue behind that change. Harry has been in the U.K. for engagements tied to the Invictus Games, including the one-year countdown to the 2027 tournament in Birmingham. The family had been vacationing in Europe before the visit. Their expected arrival now suggests that arrangements were worked out for at least part of the trip outside London, where concerns had been especially acute.

Meghan Markle and the Children Could See King Charles

The visit may create a rare chance for Archie and Lilibet to spend time with King Charles. Archie was born in the U.K., but Lilibet was born in California after the Sussexes moved to the United States in 2020. She is believed to have met her grandfather only once, during the family’s 2022 trip for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee. That history gives this return added weight, especially as in-person meetings between Harry’s children and senior members of the royal family have remained limited over the past several years.

A 2022 Visit Still Shapes the Family Story

The family’s last full trip to England came four years ago during the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. That visit included private time with then-Prince Charles and Queen Camilla. “It was a fantastic visit. The prince was delighted to see his grandson and meet his granddaughter for the first time,” a royal source said according to People Magazine. The same source added, “It was very special to have some time with him. He hadn’t met Lilibet, his granddaughter, and so to meet her for the first time was very emotional — it was a wonderful thing.”

Security Concerns Still Hang Over Harry’s Visits

The latest travel plans come after Prince Harry spent years pressing for stronger protection in Britain. After stepping back from royal duties in 2020, he and Meghan lost taxpayer-funded security in the country. A review tied to those arrangements is still ongoing. Last year, Harry said he could not imagine bringing his family back to his home country without proper protection. That made the children’s expected trip this week especially notable. It also underlines how central security has become to nearly every decision around the Sussex family’s visits to Britain.
