Prince Harry is still trying to make a U.K. trip happen for Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, even as security questions hang over the family’s plans. The Duke of Sussex wants his children to spend time in his home country, but the arrangements around protection are still unresolved. According to People Magazine, Harry is exploring ways for the visit to go ahead safely next week. The planned journey is tied to his upcoming appearances connected to the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games in Birmingham.
Prince Harry Pushes for Safe Trip with Archie and Lilibet
A spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex made clear that the central concern is security across the full visit, not simply a place to stay. "The issue has never been accommodation," said the spokesperson according to People Magazine. "The issue is whether appropriate and proportionate protective security is being provided throughout the entirety of the visit." The statement added that Harry continues to examine "every available option" so his children can visit Britain under conditions considered safe.
King Charles Offers Royal Estate Accommodation
King Charles has offered Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their children accommodation on a royal estate, though that offer has not been accepted at this stage. The offer addresses one part of the family’s logistics, but not the broader issue of movement and protection beyond royal property. The current understanding is that police protection would be available while the family is on royal grounds, but not necessarily while traveling to engagements or visiting other locations during the trip.
Risk Review Still Missing Before Britain Visit
A major sticking point is the absence of an independent Risk Management Board review. The spokesperson argued that safe lodging alone cannot solve the wider problem because security planning must cover the whole program of public and private engagements. "Safe accommodation is only one element of an effective protective security plan because risk follows the person, not the place," the spokesperson said according to People Magazine. That review was expected earlier this year, but it has still not taken place.
Invictus Games Visit Carries Personal Weight
The possible family visit carries personal meaning for Harry beyond the official schedule. Security has remained a major issue since he and Meghan stepped back as working royals in 2020 and moved to California. Archie and Lilibet have not been in the U.K. since 2022, making this return especially significant. Harry has spoken before about wanting his children to experience the country where he grew up, while also balancing what he sees as the need for proper protection throughout the occasion.
