Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan's Oprah interview was back in the spotlight this week when it picked up a nomination at the 2021 Emmy Awards.

And while fans celebrated the Emmy nod for the Duke and Duchess, Prince William is having a rather different reaction to the news, according to one royal expert. And spoiler alert: it's not good.

Prince William on Harry and Meghan's Emmy nomination?

Prince William has been in recovery mode after his brother and sister-in-law's damaging interview with Oprah Winfrey. He even had to publicly deny their accusations of racism against unnamed members of the Royal Family.

But now that the interview is an Emmy-nominated work, royal author Duncan Larcombe told OK! magazine that Prince William will be feeling "sick to the pit of his stomach."

"The interview was an attack on [William's] family and his wife and is now being heralded as one of the entertainment moments of the year," added Larcombe, the former royal editor at The Sun.

Royals haven't reacted to Meghan, Harry, Oprah Emmy nod

So far, no royals — Harry and Meghan included — have publicly reacted to the news of the Emmy nomination. The interview is up for "Outstanding Hosted Nonfiction Series Or Special" at the Emmys on Sept. 19.

Whether or not Prince William likes it, Oprah with Meghan and Harry was a major moment in 2021 that focused on pressing issues of racism and mental health. Many of its most damaging aspects, however, came at the expense of the Royal Family.

In any case, Prince William may need to get used to such news, because Prince Harry and Meghan have transitioned to television and podcast producing. So more awards could be in their future.

This week, Duchess Meghan also announced a new animated Netflix series that she'll be producing.
