  • Princess Eugenie's Candid Reflections on Instagram and Public Life

During a conversation with U.K. television personality Kate Thornton on her White Wine Question Time podcast, Princess Eugenie shared her thoughts on how she's perceived based on paparazzi photos.

She embraces her unconventional journey

Eugenie candidly spoke about "terrifyingly ugly" paparazzi shots taken in the past, often showing her and her younger sister, Princess Beatrice, coming out of bars. She revealed that people sometimes approach her to say, "Oh you’re much better looking in real life," a comment that leaves her in a state of uncertainty as to whether it's a compliment or not.

Eugenie also discussed her decision to create a public Instagram account in 2018 to offer people a glimpse of her true self. She felt the need to combat the abundance of misinformation and misjudgment that often stems from media coverage and photographs. Acknowledging that both she and Beatrice went through awkward phases like many of their cousins, she expressed pride in her unconventional past looks.

Despite having control over her online narrative, Eugenie admitted that Instagram remains "the most stressful thing in the world" for her. She shared her pre-post anxiety and the numerous people she contacts to ensure her content is error-free and troll-resistant.
