The night celebrated the best in TV and film!
The 73rd BAFTAs were held at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England. BBC presenter Graham Norton hosted the ceremony live at 9pm local time (4pm ET/1pm PT). Going into the ceremony, Joker led the way with nominations in 11 categories. The Irishman and Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood followed close behind with 10 nominations apiece, while 1917 received 9.
2020 BAFTAs: Storylines to follow
Prior to the ceremony, storylines to watch for included whether repeat winners at the Golden Globes, Critics' Choice Awards, and Screen Actors Guild Awards would continue their success at the BAFTAs. Would 1917 once again win the top prize for Best Film?
Would Joaquin Phoenix and Brad Pitt repeat their wins in the Lead and Supporting Actor categories? Would Renée Zellweger and Laura Dern do the same in the Actress categories? How many more accolades would Parasite and director Bong Joon-ho add to their already impressive awards season?

The big winner of the night: 1917
1917 took home BAFTA awards in seven categories, including Best Film, Outstanding British Film, and Best Director for Sam Mendes.
The four acting categories favourites - Phoenix and Pitt, Zellweger and Dern - repeated their earlier success with a BAFTA now added to their awards season hauls.
And awards season star Parasite once again took home awards in the Film Not In The English Language and Original Screenplay categories.
Will these trends continue into the Academy Awards ceremony on Sunday, February 9? Or will the Oscars offer a new perspective on the best in film of 2019? Time will tell!
