"Willy Wonka" is the owner of the largest chocolate factory in the world. He takes the children on a tour of his factory, which is staffed by "Oompa-Loompas". "Wonka" is emotionally detached, not showing any feelings throughout the beginning of the movie. "Charlie" realizes that this is due to his relationship with his father and offers to help the factory owner.

The self-obsessed ""Violet Beauregarde" is the second victim during the tour. Before and during the tour "Violet" is constantly chewing gum. When the group finally arrives at the gum testing facility, she insists on trying the new flavours of gum, even trying some untested flavours she is warned not to. Her body inflates into a massive blue ball, and she is carried away by the "Oompa-Loompas".
