Greg Vaughan's run as "Eric Brady" on Days of Our Lives has come to an end. The 47-year-old actor confirmed the news during a July 22 appearance on the podcast That's Awesome! With Steve and Bradford.

During the podcast guest spot, Vaughan opened up about his decision to leave Days — which loses another cast member after Kristian Alfonso also exited earlier this month.

Days of Our Lives: Greg Vaughan on "Eric Brady" exit

Speaking with podcast hosts Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson, Vaughan opened up about his Days departure and offered some hope for the future.

"I've finished my reign at Days," he began. "For all my Days fans that are listening," he added, "I love you all. It's never over, so I'm not gonna say it's over. I'm taking a break, if you will."

Vaughan then shared some insight into his decision to leave. "Days was going through a renewal negotiation and not knowing where they were going to go," he said. "I just felt my time was coming to an end anyways."

Greg Vaughan quits Days of Our Lives after 8 years

Vaughan's Days exit, even if it someday becomes a temporary one, comes after eight years. He took on the role of "Eric Brady" in 2012, after the character was last portrayed by Jensen Ackles between 1997 and 2000. Vaughan was even honoured with a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in 2018 for his portrayal of "Eric."

But the former General Hospital star and Young and the Restless guest now appears set to move on after an eight-year stint on Days. He also currently portrays "Calvin" on OWN's Queen Sugar.

Vaughan's exit also means a further makeover for Days in the near future. Earlier this month, the popular soap opera also lost longtime star Kristian Alfonso after 37 years.
