William Hartnell

The first of the "Doctors", William Hartnell played "The Doctor" from 1963 to 1966. He may have looked frail and old, but that didn't stop him from foiling evil plots and saving the day! Known for his signature blue stoned ring, as the first "Doctor", William Hartnell made the show the success it was!

Patrick Troughton

After old age finally got the first "Doctor", English actor Patrick Troughton would step in as the second "Doctor". Patrick made a comical doctor, always carrying around his recorder, but also had a very serious side to him. He would play the "Doctor" from 1966 to 1969.

Jon Pertwee

In 1970, English actor and comedian Jon Pertwee would take over as the third "Doctor". The third "Doctor" had exquisite tastes and was known for his love of cars, especially his yellow roadster "Bessie"! Jon Pertwee would play the part until 1974!

In 1974, English actor Tom Baker would become one of the longest-running doctors, playing the part until 1981! The fourth "Doctor" had a lovable personality and iconic style! Unfortunately, while it seemed like Tom Baker would stay with us forever, the fourth "Doctor" eventually met his end after falling off of a radar tower during a battle with the "Master".

Peter Davison, the fifth "Doctor", may have appeared young, but he was an old being in a youthful body. One of the most human of the "Doctors", number five was also one of the most vulnerable and would only stick around for a few years from 1981 to 1984.

The sixth "Doctor", played by English actor Colin Baker, was a controversial one and one you wouldn't want to anger! Initially hard to like, and hard to look at with that colorful coat, overtime the sixth "Doctor" showed his charms and would play the part from 1984 until 1986 when he met his untimely end after bumping his head!

The seventh "Doctor", played by Scottish actor Sylvester McCoy, was another that would stay around for a while. Number seven had a way about him that made him easy to like, and laugh at, eventually turning into one of the most brilliant manipulators and chess players! Sylvester McCoy would play the part from 1987 to 1989, making a reappearance in 1996.
