- Flip or Flop is coming to an end
- The show started 11 years ago and quickly became one of the biggest shows to air on HGTV
- The stars of the show have since divorced
It may come as a surprise to most of us, but according to an inside source that spilled the details to People, Flip or Flop has been on the list of shows getting the axe for a while!
Not a surprise for those in the know
The source that is close to the production side of Flip or Flop in HGTV says that the decision to cancel the series isn't that surprising. Stars of the show, Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack have had a bumpy road throughout the ten seasons it's been aired, including a very public divorce and two children.
"The writing has been on the wall for a while," the insider shares. "It was not sudden."
The former couple, who split in 2016, is a part of the series that focuses on flipping houses for a hopeful profit, but along with the house hunting, the series also dived into their complicated relationship and their co-parenting struggles. They share two children, Taylor, 11, and Brayden, 6.
According to the source, part of the reason for the split was due to the "intimate" setting getting to the couple.
"Tarek and Christina are generally cordial. They're co-parenting and nothing gets in the way of that," they said to the outlet. "The show was just too intimate of a setting at this point and it was time to close that chapter."
The two have faced some public drama, partly due to the both of them moving on to their own respective partners.
Although Haack has divorced for a second time from Ant Anstead, after welcoming their now-two-year-old, Hudson, less than a year after his brith.
El Moussa has also since remarried, another TV personality, Heather Rae Young, from Selling Sunset.
The two shared their nuptials in Montecito, California in 2021, which was also shared to HGTV one time-special, Heather & Tarek Say I Do.
