Director Todd Phillips is giving fans a holiday treat with a glimpse of 'Joker: Folie á Deux,' the sequel to the Oscar-winning 2019 film. Phillips shared two new images on Instagram, featuring Joaquin Phoenix as "Arthur Fleck", aka the "Joker," and his co-star Lady Gaga.

"Wishing everyone a happy holiday and a beautiful new year," Phillips captioned the images, providing fans a sneak peek into the highly anticipated sequel.

'Folie á Deux' is set to hit theaters on Oct. 4, coinciding with the five-year anniversary of the original 'Joker.' The first film set box-office records, and its sequel was officially confirmed in June 2022.

A musical sequel

While the storyline remains under wraps, the sequel promises to be a musical. Lady Gaga, confirmed to play "Dr. Harleen 'Harley Quinn' Quinzel", adds a fresh twist to the iconic character.

Phillips has been sharing the sequel's progress on Instagram, documenting moments from the first day of filming in December 2022 to the wrap-up in April. The film captures the essence of the 'Joker' universe, promising more memorable moments.
